MENTAL TOUGHNESS SCALE: EVIDÊNCIAS PSICOMÉTRICAS EM UNIVERSITÁRIOS BRASILEIROS

Resumen

A Resistência Mental (RM) se constitui como um conjunto de atributos psicológicos positivos, os quais predizem uma série de resultados, como o bem-estar, que funciona como fator protetivo em contextos relacionados ao desempenho. Dada essa característica positiva, a RM tem se mostrado relacionada a diferentes domínios cognitivos, emocionais e motivacionais, contribuindo para o processo de autorrealização em diferentes ambientes, como laboral, militar e universitário. Assim, a presente pesquisa objetivou avaliar as qualidades métricas (estrutura interna e validade baseada em medidas externas) da Mental Toughness Scale (MTS). Para tanto, contou-se com uma amostra de 1.219 estudantes universitários de diferentes estados brasileiros, que foram divididos em dois estudos distintos. No primeiro (n = 689), foi realizado a adaptação da MTS e executada uma Análise Fatorial Exploratória (AFE), a qual sugeriu uma estrutura unifatorial, como teorizado. No segundo (n = 530), foi executada a Análise Fatorial Confirmatória (AFC), que apresentou adequado ajuste do modelo unifatorial (CFI = 0,99; TLI = 0,98; RMSEA = 0,06). Ademais, realizou-se uma correlação de Spearman's rho, que evidenciou uma relação negativa e estatisticamente significativa entre a RM e os fatores da afetividade negativa (estresse, ansiedade e depressão), indicando validade para medidas externas. Além disso, constatou-se precisão satisfatória em ambos os estudos. Conclui-se que a MTS se apresenta como um instrumento com boas qualidades psicométricas no contexto brasileiro, podendo ser uma fermenta útil na avaliação da RM e seus correlatos em amostras de estudantes universitários.
