Abstract

This article aims to identify in the literature studies about beliefs and stereotypes related to prejudice against fat people through a systematic review. The keywords used were “preconceito”, “gordo”, “gorda”, “excesso de peso”, “acima do peso”, “sobrepeso”, “obesidade”, “obeso” and: "prejudice", "fat”, "overweight”, “obesity” and "obese”. Six articles were included in the sample. The analysis allowed to verify which beliefs and stereotypes were correlated with prejudice against fat people despite the gap in studies focusing on the correlations between prejudice against fat people, beliefs and stereotypes. We bring that analysis of these beliefs together can contribute to a deeper explanation of the prejudice against this group.
