Analysis of the perceptions of young people in the city of Porto Alegre about the Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

The arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic brought about profound changes in contemporary society, which also occurred with young people. The main objective of this text is to discuss initial results of the research that sought to analyze the new constitutions of being and being young in Porto Alegre (RS), amid the pandemic of COVID-19. For this, a virtual questionnaire was applied to 306 young people from Porto Alegre. The questionnaire was divided into two parts, the first being the characterization of the investigation sample and the second analysis of statements presented on the Likert scale. Ethical regulatory care in humanities research was followed. As a result, it was possible to verify that the majority of the subjects who participated in the investigation are young, white women, between 18 and 24 years old and who only study. About access to the research instrument, 40% accessed it through social networks. Regarding Internet access, 91% use broadband and 81% use the smartphone. Regarding the statements presented on the Likert scale, the vast majority of young people have an understanding and understanding of the measures to contain the virus, and also perceive the Brazilian government as negligent in combating the pandemic. It is possible to consider, therefore, that contemporary youths play a fundamental role in the pandemic context due to their experiences, perceptions and engagement in the task of containing the proliferation of the new coronavirus, based on attitudes and social responsibility.
