CROSS-CULTURAL ADAPTATION AND VALIDATION OF THE INSTRUMENT QUALITY OF SCHOOL WORK LIFE (QSWL) FOR THE PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE

Abstract
The quality of life experienced by workers in their work environment has the potential to impact the continuity and results of organizations, public or private. This inference reveals the importance of instruments capable of diagnosing the Quality of Work Life (QWL), which support the intervention of managers in the adoption of predictive actions or programs. Given the lack of a specific instrument for the QWL of Brazilian teachers, this study aimed to adapt and validate the Quality of School Work Life (QSWL) instrument for the Portuguese language. The methodological process followed the recommendations of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons/Institute of Work and Health protocol. The final version consisted of 24 items distributed among five theoretical dimensions. Content validity and misunderstanding indices were evaluated by an expert committee and a sample of the target population. The testing confirmed that the QSWL is a valid instrument for the Brazilian context. It is recommended to expand the tests by evaluating the psychometric properties of the instrument.
