ÍNDICE DE VAZAMENTOS DE ÁGUA EM INFRAESTRUTURAS NOS MUNICÍPIOS DE MATO GROSSO DO SUL: AVALIAÇÃO E IMPLICAÇÕES PARA A GESTÃO HÍDRICA

Resumo

Este estudo analisa as perdas de água nos sistemas urbanos de abastecimento do estado de Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), com o objetivo de identificar como e em que magnitude a ineficiência operacional do abastecimento hídrico varia entre os municípios. A pesquisa baseou-se em indicadores de desempenho da International Water Association (IWA), com foco no Infrastructure Leakage Index (ILI). O objetivo consistiu em avaliar o desempenho dos serviços municipais de água quanto às perdas físicas e comerciais. A abordagem metodológica seguiu o método teórico-dedutivo, utilizando dados secundários fornecidos pelas operadoras municipais e por bases públicas, abrangendo todos os municípios do estado e selecionando como amostra aqueles com dados completos para os anos de referência. Os procedimentos envolveram o levantamento e a análise comparativa dos dados por meio dos indicadores selecionados. Os resultados revelaram disparidades marcantes: municípios como Corumbá e Cassilândia apresentaram os menores níveis de eficiência, enquanto Campo Grande registrou os maiores volumes absolutos de perdas, devido à densidade populacional e à escala operacional. As evidências indicam que a adoção sistemática dos indicadores da IWA constitui ferramenta eficaz para o monitoramento e a transparência na gestão do abastecimento de água, ressaltando a necessidade de investimentos em infraestrutura, manutenção preventiva e programas de conscientização voltados à sustentabilidade hídrica. Em termos práticos, os resultados oferecem suporte técnico e estratégico para o aprimoramento de políticas públicas e decisões voltadas à gestão sustentável da água, em consonância com os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS 6 e ODS 9).
