PROCRASTINAÇÃO EM UNIVERSITÁRIOS NO PIAUÍ: A INFLUÊNCIA DE VARIÁVEIS DEMOGRÁFICAS E DA ANSIEDADE COGNITIVA DE PROVAS

Resumen
A procrastinação acadêmica refere-se ao ato voluntário de postergar ações voltadas ao estudo e tarefas importantes. Ocorre principalmente em situações de estresse que estão relacionadas a uma preocupação excessiva antes, durante e depois do período de provas, com as consequências de um possível fracasso, afetando de maneira significativa o bem-estar dos estudantes. Assim, o presente estudo objetivou verificar em que medida a ansiedade cognitiva de provas explica a procrastinação acadêmica, controlando o efeito influência das variáveis demográficas (sexo e idade), em universitários piauienses. Para tanto, contou-se com uma amostra de 200 estudantes universitários de instituições de ensino superior da cidade de Parnaíba, interior do Piauí, com idades variando de 18 a 56 anos, sendo a maioria mulheres (56%), de instituições públicas (92,5%), que estavam cursando Psicologia (37,6%) e Fisioterapia (26,7%). Estes responderam a Escala de Ansiedade Cognitiva de Provas, a Escala de Procrastinação de Tuckman, além de questões sociodemográficas. Os resultados indicaram, por meio de análises de correlação e regressão linear hierárquica, que ansiedade cognitiva de provas e idade contribuíram para a explicação da procrastinação acadêmica, não sendo significativa a contribuição da variável sexo. Concluiu-se que a preocupação excessiva com as consequências de uma possível falha em situações avaliativas, ou seja, ansiedade cognitiva de provas, é uma variável que pode acentuar o comportamento procrastinador entre os estudantes, sendo necessário a discussão de propostas interventivas principalmente entre aqueles mais jovens.
