Abstract

The present study deals with the theme of the evolution of School Psychology, its objective is to carry out a historical review on the evolution of the role of the psychologist in the school, starting from the understanding of School Psychology not as a specialty in the strict sense, but as a professional realization of Psychology. at the service of school and education. In this sense, the study outlines considerations about the historical evolution of School Psychology, highlighting this evolution in Brazil. Through qualitative bibliographic research, it is concluded that the perspectives of professional development of Psychology in the school context are mediated by the integration of the school psychologist's own functions in other professional bodies, such as educational advisors and psychopedagogues and, above all, students, who are the object of the school psychologist's action.
