Abstract

The increasing evolution of financial products and global economic instability have made financial decisions increasingly complex. Therefore, financial literacy is necessary to enable an assessment of the financial position and economic situation of the population. In this context, the Brazilian Financial Health Index (I-SFB), developed by Febraban and BCB, in 2021, aims to understand the financial situation of Brazilians to develop effective educational actions. This study aimed to verify the influence exerted by financial literacy on financial health through statistical analysis, with the ordinary least squares methodology being used to respond to the hypotheses raised. Hypothesis tests indicated that control variables influence financial health. The main conclusions of the work were the verification of the influence exerted by financial literacy on the financial health of the interviewees and the financial security construct is the element that most impacted the financial health index. The work reveals, through this field research, that the issue of financial education is vital for people's financial health.
