EFEITOS DA ESTIMULAÇÃO TRANSCRANIANA POR CORRENTE CONTÍNUA NA MEMÓRIA DE TRABALHO DE IDOSOS

Resumo

A Estimulação Transcraniana por Corrente Contínua (ETCC) é uma ferramenta não invasiva de neuromodulação, capaz de modular a atividade espontânea da rede neuronal e vem sendo estudada na memória de trabalho (MT) de idosos. Esta pesquisa objetivou investigar os efeitos da ETCC na memória de trabalho de idosos. Realizou-se um estudo longitudinal, quantitativo, triplo-cego, de medidas repetidas. Seis idosos (M = 67 anos; DP = 5,32) participaram de dez sessões de ETCC sob uma corrente de 1,5 mA no córtex pré-frontal dorsolateral esquerdo. Utilizou-se subtestes da Escala de Inteligência Wechsler para Adultos (WAIS-III) para avaliar a memória de trabalho antes e após as intervenções. Os dados foram analisados no IBM SPSS STATISTICS, através da ANOVA one way de medidas repetidas. Não foram identificadas diferenças estatisticamente significativas nos intervalos de tempo (T0, T1 e T2), isto é, [F(2, 10) = 0,185; p = 0,834; η2p = 0,036;  η2G = 0,005] para dígitos diretos; [F(2, 10) = 0,538; p = 0,600; η2p = 0,097; η2G = 0,017] para dígitos inversos; e [F(2, 10) = 0,025; p = 0,976; η2p = 0,005; η2G = 0,0009] para sequenciamento de letras e números. Ademais, a ETCC mostrou-se segura, apresentando ausência ou baixa intensidade de sintomas adversos. Para estudos futuros, sugere-se aumento amostral, medidas capazes de avaliar atenção, fadiga e autorrelato sejam incorporadas no protocolo.
