100 YEARS OF THE IRISH REVOLUTION: IMPERIALIST CRISIS AND LESSONS FROM RUSSIA FOR THE EUROPEAN REVOLUTIONARY MOVEMENT

Abstract

The following text seeks to remember the centennial of the Irish Civil War in light of the major revolutionary movements that took place in Europe between the Great War and the 1920s. We will highlight the struggle for independence in Ireland, which began with the nationalist movements around Sinn Féin and the 1916 Easter Uprising, an event considered by Lenin as an example of the struggle for self-determination of peoples and a fundamental blow against Imperialism in Europe. Finally, we must highlight the socialist and proletarian character of its main leaders in the vanguard of the 1916 insurrectionary movement that triggered the fight for independence and the civil war around the Republic.
