Abstract
This essay is intended to explore the recent crisis unleashed in Belarus, a country in Eastern Europe, deeply linked to Russia and located in one of the last territories that separate the largest country in the world from the territories controlled by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The recent clashes between the population and the Belarusian governmen over the results of the last elections exposes a dynamic of interests that permeates the great world powers and the old domination game of the World Heartland, demonstrating once again that Mackinder's theory, besides being present, it is essential for the understanding of world geopolitics.
