REVISITING THE BOOK: “REMOTE TEACHING AND THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC”
Main Article Content
Abstract
The book entitled “Remote Teaching and the COVID-19 pandemic”, presents a variety of discussions on diverse topics that aim to stimulate reflection and theoretical-methodological plurality through a fruitful dialogue between theory and practice in the educational field. The remote teaching modality refers to a form of education and learning that has a long historical trajectory, beginning in the late 19th century to the present day. This approach has been supported by various pedagogical strategies and technological resources used in different space-time contexts. Structured in five chapters, the work aims to provide an extensive set of issues relevant to teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic period, thus highlighting the inherent complexity of the theme, especially in a phase characterized by profound transformations resulting from multifaceted instabilities in the educational field. The methodology used is exploratory, descriptive and explanatory, qualitative and analytically rigorous. One of the main results of the work is the identification of the main difficulties faced in remote teaching, such as the lack of adequate technological infrastructure, the difficulty of teachers and students adapting and the need to rethink pedagogical practices. In addition, the work highlights the importance of investments in teacher training and educational technology to ensure the quality of remote teaching. It is concluded that the reflections contained in this research expose different aspects of the complexity of remote teaching in times of pandemic, promoting considerations about the complicated reality faced by both educators and students under the mediation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
