THE RUSSO-UKRAINIAN CONFLICT, GEOPOLITICAL DISPUTES AND GEOGRAPHICAL SPACE: COMPETITION FOR GLOBAL HEGEMONY

Abstract
The European area is witnessing the worst armed conflict in the last 30 years on the continent. Russia and Ukraine are the main actors in this new conflict that haunts Europe. However, at the heart of this conflict there are far more complex interests associated with space disputes that go far beyond the Ukrainian and perhaps European borders. The current clash in Eastern Europe exposes the global hegemonic dispute for spaces of influence that has been waged by the West and Russia in a more ostentatious way since the beginning of the 21st century. In this text we propose a vision of how and for what reasons Ukraine is of interest to both sides.
