Abstract

The photovoltaic solar energy market in Brazil is rapidly expanding, driven by factors such as rising energy costs, accessible financing options, and an increasing focus on environmental sustainability. This study analyzes Circular Economy (CE) practices adopted by sustainable entrepreneurial businesses in the sector, using an exploratory qualitative approach divided into two stages. The first stage involved the collection of sociodemographic data and the characteristics of the participating companies. In the second stage, 15 interviews were conducted with entrepreneurs from the solar energy sector, focusing on the CE practices they implemented. The data analysis was conducted through content analysis, supported by the IRAMUTEQ software, employing techniques such as Descending Hierarchical Classification (DHC), Correspondence Factorial Analysis (CFA), Similitude Analysis, and Word Cloud. Practices like Rethink and Reduce showed strong adherence among the interviewees and were widely used to optimize processes and reduce waste. However, principles such as Reuse, Reintegrate, and Recover still face challenges, primarily due to a lack of infrastructure and clarity among participants. Recycling is widely recognized, but still faces operational and structural barriers, such as the absence of effective policies and adequate infrastructure. The study highlights the need for favorable legislation and technological innovation to facilitate the transition to sustainable practices. The evidence gathered broadens the understanding of CE practices in the sector, providing a solid foundation to guide public policies, investors, and business strategies, contributing to the development of sustainable initiatives in Brazil.
