Abstract

The study investigates the resilience of ceremonial professionals in the events sector in São Luís, capital of the Brazilian state of Maranhão, during the Covid-19 pandemic. Qualitative research was carried out, with primary data collection using the deductive method. Primary data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Secondary data came from the bibliographic and documentary review. To organize and analyze the data transcribed from the interviews, the content analysis technique was applied and the Atlas.ti software was used. Lexical analysis, co-occurrence analysis, tree map, and word cloud were performed. The results reveal that the sector was surprised by the pandemic, highlighting a lack of preparation for crises of this magnitude. Although there has been a transition to online events. The late recognition of the seriousness of the situation suggests a lack of sensitivity to anticipate the impacts of the crisis. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the importance of prior preparation and implementation of preventive plans. However, we recognize limitations, such as concentration in a single city, indicating the need for future, more comprehensive investigations to better understand organizational resilience in different contexts.
