FROM NEOLIBERALISM IN LATIN AMERICA TO KIRCHNERISM: NEW CONTINENTAL WINDS?

Abstract

This paper aims, firstly, to discuss the events and theories concerning the emergence of neoliberalism and its influence in the world and in Latin America, especially in Argentina. It is assumed that this new concept, neoliberalism, arises from classical liberalism, gaining a significant space in our society and leading many intellectuals to define it as a doctrine. Moreover, it aims to debate the role of the Kirchners in the alleged offensive against neoliberalism on the South American continent. Through literature review related to movements and characters associated with the origin and escalation of neoliberalism in Latin America and in the world, this article aims to evoke questions from impacts of the momentum of Kirchnerist political philosophy before neoliberalism. The article infers that this doctrine gives to the countries involved a place of dependency, making them subordinate to the international capital’s interests.
