PREVALENCE OF MORTALITY FROM COVID-19 IN PREGNANT WOMEN WITH ASTHMA (2020 TO 2023)
Main Article Content
Abstract
COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, first identified in Wuhan, China, in late 2019. Characterized by rapid spread among people, the disease spread rapidly across several countries, being classified as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) and declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. The objective of this study is to describe the mortality profile in pregnant women living with asthma diagnosed with COVID-19 in the period 2020-2023. The data were obtained through the Influenza Epidemiological Surveillance Information System (SIVEP-Gripe), collecting cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in pregnant women, referring to the year 2020 to 2023, describing the entire national territory. 88 pregnant women living with asthma were reported in the period. After inserting the survival analysis, it was observed that deaths occurred with a higher probability in the first trimester 18.7%, followed by 67% in the second trimester and 315% in the third trimester. Thus, it is possible to associate a greater probability of death in the first trimester of pregnancy, which may have coincided with the non-identification of the disease and worsening of symptoms. After carrying out the study, it was concluded the importance of prenatal care and asthma as a comorbidity that may compromise the expectancy and quality of life of the pregnant woman.
