MUSEOGRAPHIC STRUCTURES AND URBAN CONTEXTS: CASE STUDY OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF IMMIGRATION AND COLONIZATION IN JOINVILLE (SC)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The context of this article is the growing appreciation of museums, memorials and exhibition spaces for urban planning, going beyond their inherent functions, especially cultural and educational ones. Its objective is to discuss interpretative criteria between such cultural facilities, the urban contexts in which they are inserted, and the possible implications arising from this relationship. The research adopts a bibliographical approach, the analysis and observation of museums, their different urban contexts in which they are inserted, and the case study of the National Museum of Immigration and Colonization, Joinville-SC. The investigation resulted in the definition of five typologies of implications arising from the relationships between museographic cultural facilities and urban contexts and the interpretative analysis of the case study, identifying the possible implications arising from them. As a result, the analyses propose that the use of these interpretative criteria can improve the understanding of museographic cultural facilities and their transformative potential in the urban environment.
