TERRITORIAL CENTRALITY: AN ANALYSIS OF THE SOCIOECONOMIC PERFORMANCE OF GUARAPUAVA/PR

Abstract
The present study examines the characterization of the socioeconomic position and situation of the Immediate Region of Guarapuava (IRG), located in the interior of Paraná, considering the territorial and political-administrative context in which regional phenomena unfold. The main objective of the research is to provide a comprehensive and substantiated analysis of the social, economic, and territorial dynamics shaping the reality of Guarapuava, exploring aspects such as income distribution, access to public services, quality of life, and population dynamics. The methodology employed was based on the deductive method, with data collection procedures including bibliographic and documentary reviews. Data analysis was conducted using developmental hermeneutics, allowing for the interpretation of results through relevant theories. Additionally, graphical and schematic analyses with tables were employed to present the data in a clear and systematic manner. The results highlighted Guarapuava's key areas of prominence compared to other municipalities in Paraná, as well as significant challenges in terms of socioeconomic inequality and access to basic services. Comparing data with other municipalities in the state allowed for the identification of Guarapuava’s relative positioning in the regional context, evidencing both its potential and its limitations impacting development. It is concluded that the municipality holds a strategic position within the state, with opportunities for sustainable growth, provided specific public policies and strategies are implemented to address the identified challenges. The research contributes to expanding the understanding of the municipality's socioeconomic and territorial dynamics, offering insights for the formulation of actions aimed at regional development.
