REVISITING VENEZUELAN MIGRATION IN THE STATE OF RORAIMA
Main Article Content
Abstract
A crisis of great magnitude in all sectors and the destabilization of the democratic system in Venezuela led millions of people to exodus, in search of better living conditions and survival in other countries. A significant part of these immigrants came to Brazil, specifically to Roraima, due to the ease of access at the border. Starting from this theme, the objective of the book “Venezuelan Migration – Roraima as the epicenter of displacements”, the subject of this review, is to uncover the context of Venezuelan displacements to the state of Roraima and the functioning of the institutional network of reception, reception, integration and internalization to other states of migrants and refugees, stimulating the reader's spirit of criticality and reflection. The methodology used is exploratory, descriptive and explanatory in nature in terms of ends and qualitative in terms of means. The research was based on the use of deductive methods and integrative, bibliographic and documentary review procedures in data collection, as well as case study and hermeneutic, graphic and geospatial analysis for data analysis. The result achieved was a collection of information, graphics, and data analysis in the time frame in which the research is inserted, 2016 to 2021, from the intensification of the flow of Venezuelan immigrants to the state of Roraima, to the Coronavirus pandemic scenario. It is concluded that this book finds its relevance in demonstrating, qualifying and quantifying the peculiarities in the current socioeconomic context of the migratory movements of Venezuelan peoples to Brazil, bringing to the fore legislative issues of state response as well as the actions of governmental and non-governmental bodies involved in this intricate system, from the reception, reception and internalization of these migrants.
