PROFILE OF THE LETHALITY COEFFICIENT FROM HIV/AIDS IN THE STATE OF PARAÍBA IN 2023
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present study aims to describe the mortality rate due to AIDS/HIV in the state of Paraíba in the year 2023. It is a descriptive, exploratory, cross-sectional study using a quantitative approach. The data researched in the Information Technology Department of the Unified Health System regarding the number of cases of deaths by ICD B20 and B24, resulted in 2868 cases of HIV by the year 2023 and 637 cases of deaths from the basic HIV/AIDS tail. . Of these, the general lethality coefficient resulted in 22.23, of the numbers presented, the male population presented a greater number of registered cases as well as a higher lethality coefficient of 0.63, while in the female population it was 0.36, such results may be associated with lower adherence of the male population to seeking health services, as well as adhering to treatment. In addition to the point estimates, estimates of 95% confidence intervals for AIDS lethality were added. Statistics based on official SUS data, such as the lethality coefficient, are essential for evaluating and implementing public policies aimed at controlling AIDS and reducing the incidence and deaths from the disease.
