SIMPLE AND SIMPLICITY: CHALLENGE AND DUALITY

Abstract

This text emerged from discussions about a Philanthropic Project called School of Life, which aims to discuss philosophical themes in people's daily lives with a canon geared towards theoretical discussion and reflections on everyday life. Simplicity was one of the first themes chosen, given the difficulties in understanding “that being simple” is one thing and “simplicity is another”. Faced with the dilemmas of cultural understanding, within a globalized and frantic space of information, the complexity in engendering a propaedeutic nature that can perform tricks, as the understanding of the “modern man” becomes an immense challenge in relating a core analysis of simplicity in terms of evoking an understanding of human behavior in a unilateral way. This essay discusses the deconstruction of the senses taking for granted a multiplicity of opportunities for understanding about the “modern man” as well as how his life has been polished through the use of improvement of Art and Philosophy in their antagonistic ways of existence.
