Abstract

China is considered one of the main economic powers in the world and has an important trade partnership with several countries, elements that made the country gain great relevance in the global scenario. This article aims to critically analyze the influence of China in the International System and its implications for the Western world. As such, this paper will address China's rise as an economic giant; its growing role as the main trading partner of other states; the multilateral mega-project known as “One Belt, One Road”, which has allowed China to gain even more importance and power; and the recent Trade War with the United States. Therefore, these facts make the Asian giant a strong competitor that defies USA hegemony, which can lead to a change in the international order.
